Real Madrid & Bayern Munich unlikely to sign Kai Havertz this summer

Following the German Cup final, Bild’s head of sport, Christian Falk, has posted an update on the chase to sign Havertz this summer.

Havertz is under contract with Leverkusen until 2022.

According to the latest update, Bayern Munich aren’t expected to lodge a bid for Havertz, while Real Madrid are hoping to sign the playmaker in 2020.

Starting with the Bayern angle, that side of the story was to be expected.

Bayern have already signed Leroy Sane from Man City, and it’s previously been reported that Bayern were balking at Bayer’s asking price for their 20-year-old star.

On Real Madrid, however, there’s likely to be a greater surprise. A few weeks ago, German outlet SportBuzzer seemed certain that Havertz would sign for Los Blancos. Readers were told:

– Kai Havertz wants to join Real Madrid

– Real is Havertz’s dream club

– Havertz is moving to Spain

Will Chelsea sign Kai Havertz?

Returning to Christian Falk’s latest update, he confirmed that Chelsea are “interested” in signing Havertz.

It’s also worth noting that Chelsea defender Toni Rudiger told Sky Germany this weekend that he’d love to see Havertz joint he Blues before next season.

Also, SportBuzzer previous reported that Chelsea are willing to pay Bayer’s 100 million euro asking price for Havertz. And that report also said Roman Abramovich has reportedly spoken to Havertz on the phone in an effort to close a deal.

Of course, Chelsea have already begun their recruitment drive before next season.

Timo Werner has joined from RB Leipzig, while Hakim Ziyech has signed on from Ajax.

Chelsea are also set to lose some of their current stars. Pedro will leave the Blues at the end of the season, while Willian could also leave Stamford Bridge when the campaign closes.
