DeMarcus Cousins suffered one of the worst injuries in basketball a little over a year ago when he ruptured his Achilles tendon as a member of the New Orleans Pelicans. He fought his way back this season for the Golden State Warriors and was only just beginning to put that injury behind him when he decided to chase a steal against the Los Angeles Clippers in Game 2 of their first-round series. He fell and suffered a non-contact injury that immediately sent him out of the game and into the locker room for evaluation.
This was only the second playoff game that Cousins had ever played in. He signed with the Warriors specifically to get to this moment only to suffer a very scary injury. What we know at the moment is that he hurt his left quad. That is the same leg that he hurt last season, which is a scary situation for him in the present as far as returning to the court, but also moving forward as he prepares for free agency this offseason. Cousins could not afford an injury, and now both his and his team’s future are at stake.
