Louis Tomlinson just can’t catch a break.
The teen’s tragic death is just one of many difficult moments Tomlinson, 27, has had to endure over the past couple of years.
The exes negotiated a temporary visitation agreement, but Jungwirth reportedly did not want Tomlinson’s then-girlfriend to be around their son.
Later that year, in December 2016, Tomlinson’s mother, Johannah Deakin, died at 42 following a long battle with leukemia. She left behind Tomlinson and six other children.
On March 7, the singer told Radio 1 Newsbeat in the U.K. that he wrote his latest song, “Two of Us,” in her honor. “It was something I needed to get off my chest,” he said.
Just three months after his mother’s death, he was arrested for fighting with a paparazzi photographer at Los Angeles International Airport in March 2017.
The charges were later dropped, and Tomlinson’s lawyer, Marty Singer, said in a statement that the photographer “provoked and caused the altercation.”
As Tomlinson worked on new music, he learned in May 2018 that his estranged father, Troy Austin, was diagnosed with liver cancer. The 49-year-old reportedly endured a four-hour surgery to remove a cancerous tumor.
Austin and Tomlinson had not spoken in five years, but Austin held out hope that they would one day reunite, saying, “If he ever wanted to make contact then I would be happy for that to happen.”
