A recent report in the English media has outlined some of the players Chelsea are said to be monitoring ahead of the summer.
Chelsea set for busy summer?
Recent days have certainly indicated that Chelsea are set for a fairly active summer on the transfer front.
The Blues already acquired one player’s signature back in February, with former Ajax standout Hakim Ziyech set to become a Chelsea man from July 1st.
The Ben Chilwell to Stamford Bridge links have also re-emerged in full force over the last several days.
Chelsea linked with Ake & Benrahma
Should Chelsea indeed manage to land Werner and Chilwell, on top of the already secured Ziyech, Frank Lampard would most certainly have a much stronger squad at his disposable for the 2020/21 campaign. And Blues fans would likely be very happy with said business.
However, if the aforementioned report from The Guardian is anything to go by, then Chelsea could also add yet more players in the coming window.
As per The Guardian, Chelsea are interested in re-signing Nathan Ake from Bournemouth, who was sold to the Cherries back in the summer of 2017.
Targeting Ake does make some sense as Chelsea’s centre-back spot has arguably been one of their weakest areas this season, but Ake isn’t exactly the strong commanding centre-half Lampard and co. seem to be crying out for.
However, the Dutchman could be available more cheaply if Bournemouth are relegated, as per The Guardian.
The report also adds that Chelsea are monitoring Brentford winger Said Benrahma, who could be available for £15m.
The 24-year-old has scored 10 and assisted eight in 34 Championship ties this term.
